It has been becoming more frequent that I listen to music while I go for my runs. Generally, I enjoy a no-fuss workout, just putting on my running outfit, grabbing my sunglasses and out the door. But when you increase your miles you need things like […]
Love all of these actresses and especially love that they are vegetarian or vegan. A woman who makes her health and her dietary choices a priority is sexy as heck! #wcw ! I’d like to add Bianca (creator of THe Friendly Fig) to this list!!?
Every time school starts up I tend to forget about my good friend WordPress. Not only that, I decided to take on a part time job which just recently opened this week, so we have been doing a lot of training. I have been busy busy busy. And also starting to fall behind in school. It doesn’t help that on Monday we had to put down our almost 15 year old dog, Brandy :(. I miss her every second of the day. Needless to say I was a little less motivated for school work this week. By today though I have cheered up a lot, probably because I was around a lot of good fun people at work. I am not beating myself up over a little slacking because I know things will clear up before I realize it. Here are some photos though, as always. 🙂
By the way, the new place I work at is a cold pressed juicing cafe which sells fresh organic juice, smoothies, acai bowls and some raw vegan food items. If you know me or read my blog often, you know this place is right up my alley. I truly believe one of the best things a person can do in their life for their soul is to follow their passion. This is what I am trying to do, and it feels right. The photo above was taken today of all our beautiful delicious juice!
This video is beyond amazing! It’s extremely informative and eye-opening. It just clicks and makes perfect sense. I really hope you have the time to watch this video, and if you don’t–make the time! Or watch it in intervals. It’s worth your time. 101 Reasons […]
My 9 mile run this morning… not the best. = Nevertheless, I still logged in 9 miles! I refused to cut any miles, even if I had to walk a good portion of my workout (took me about 1 hour and 49 minutes!). Matter of […]
Running is one of my lifetime goals. Lifetime goals can be anything like, travel the world, raise a family, earn a high salary career, get your PhD, etc. Well, running is one of my lifetime goals. I hope to continue running until I am an old little lady :]. That’s one of the reasons why nutrition and health is so important to me now. I know that my current lifestyle very much determines my life tomorrow, everyday after and in my future, so I hope to guarantee great health and promote a physical lifestyle throughout my life. Today I ran/walked only 4 miles because yesterday I ran 5.75, and I don’t want to overdo it before my 9 mile run tomorrow. I haven’t ran 9 miles in a long time, and I am super psyched!! 😀 Next week marks 8 weeks left till my half marathon.
So who doesn’t love coffee, huh? Well, you either love it or you hate it. But it seems like most people really enjoy it. Sometimes a little too much. I personally love the smell and I love the affect it has on me (that focused and ambitious feeling!). But did you know that too much coffee is not good for you? It’s a stimulant and it puts a ton of stress on your body (just like meat, dairy, and processed foods!).
Drinking caffeine (especially coffee) near bed time disrupts with sleep, and then when we wake up we wonder why we feel exhausted. So we drink more coffee in the morning. But a few hours after our cup of Joe we feel tired again, so we drink more coffee and therefore disrupting our sleep another night. It’s a never ending cycle for many of us. It’s not a good habit to get into. I drink coffee only occasionally and for certain occasions so that I can get that extra pep in my step! I have a low tolerance for my Joe & after a few sips I’m all, Wahoo!
Drinking coffee frequently (putting unnecessary stress on our body) promotes aging. Smoking, eating meat, eating processed foods — these all increase the aging of our bodies, as does drinking coffee regularly. I don’t know about you, but another one of my lifetime goals is looking young and healthy as long as I can. People still think I look about 19 years old when I am not dressed up to go out. I think this is fantastic, and I genuinely believe that a large part of this is due to my lifestyle. I choose to get my rest and eat very well rather than things such as drinking alcohol or coffee excessively. (I still drink alcohol and coffee, but I know my limits and I never abuse them!) An alternative to coffee that puts less stress on your body is green tea and Yerba mate (both contain caffeine and does not give you that jittery feeling that coffee does). If you want to understand more how caffeine and other stimulants have an effect on your body, I recommend the book Thrive by Brendan Brazier.
Now as odd as this sounds, I am about to make a cup of coffee for myself :]. I haven’t had any in over a week, and I need a little pep in my step to study for my Chemistry quiz coming up. THIS is a time to utilize coffee!!
I feel like the past few months have been tough for me. Since I have graduated and moved back home, I guess it’s one of those periods in my life that is..a low point. It’s one of the reasons why my cleansing and detox’s are […]
Lately I have been trying to focus on positivity. Every day things test my level of patience and my level of optimism. I’m just trying to be strong in a tough world. Things often don’t go well or things are just difficult. I can do […]
I am feeling extra ambitious and motivated today. Last night I planned out a 5-day detox which I plan to stick to entirely. Ran 5 miles at the gym in less than 50 minutes and then did a decent back and triceps workout. MOTIVATED!! :] Reason for my detox is that I ate less than stellar this weekend due to labor day-mind (a holiday mindset). Apart of my healthy detox is positivity. I don’t want to argue, fight, or think anything negative for the next 5 days. My attitude needs to be positive, optimistic, and carefree.
& 10 weeks till my Half Marathon! Doing work!
