A Very Green Smoothie

I finally made it to whole foods this afternoon, and I was able to pick up my Spirulina powder (I missed you!) and a few other of my favorite items that I have been out of for a while. I swear by Spirulina. It’s truly a magical green powder that is a serving size of only a teaspoon. How easy is that to add to your recipes? It has even be said to be the most nutritious food source in the world.

Obviously when I came home I had to make a green smoothie so I could get my Spirulina fix!

Glowing Green Smoothie

  • Servings: 1-2
  • Difficulty: easy peazy
  • Print

  • ~5 oz Green juice [I used a store bought cold-pressed mixture; I recommend juicing cucumber, spinach, or kale if you have a juicer]
  • ~5 oz coconut water
  • 1 tsp spirulina powder
  • 1 frozen or fresh banana
  • ~1/2 cup frozen fruit [I used peaches and strawberries here]
  • 1 small date
  • ~1 tbsp raw vanilla plant-protein powder

And just because, here is a picture of my breakfast this morning. Tofu, garbanzo beans, leftover mashed potatoes, cooked with onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper with some avocado and lettuce. That was pretty delicious too. 🙂
