This one goes out to all my fellow runners out there! How many of you have experienced the dreaded side stitch? I personally would rather have aching, sore legs during an entire run than experience a side stitch. I can push through sore legs. Side stitch? Not […]
It has been becoming more frequent that I listen to music while I go for my runs. Generally, I enjoy a no-fuss workout, just putting on my running outfit, grabbing my sunglasses and out the door. But when you increase your miles you need things like […]
My 9 mile run this morning… not the best. = Nevertheless, I still logged in 9 miles! I refused to cut any miles, even if I had to walk a good portion of my workout (took me about 1 hour and 49 minutes!). Matter of […]
Today is day 17! Can you believe it?! 17 days ago I started my raw/whole food cleanse. By now, this lifestyle is natural to me. I have had only a few things that were not apart of my cleanse (a couple bites of vegan cake, a couple sips of my boyfriend’s beer to try, and some peanut butter, but nothing more or too drastic to say I have not gone completely raw). By the way, a raw diet consists of 60% or more uncooked, unprocessed foods. Technically I have been on a raw diet for months now, but on this cleanse, I am virtually 99% raw!
I can’t wait to see what happens after 21 days is over. Introducing the foods I’ve stayed away from (coffee, alcohol, bread, pasta, peanut butter, baked vegan goodies, etc.) will be a whole new experiment. I will try to slowly introduce these foods into my diet, one by one, so I can determine if I have any food sensitivities. I already know that I am sensitive to oils. I’ve known this for quite some time since I stopped using oil to cook with and buying oil-free products (pasta sauces, hummus, soups). Now anytime I have something with oil in it, I experience some tummy troubles. One of the things I’m most concerned with after this cleanse is gluten and nuts. As you can see, I pay attention to what I eat and how I feel after a meal. This is important to me so that I can make healthier decisions! I also have been meaning to see a nutritionist so I can simply have my blood checked for allergies. Experimenting on your own is much more fun though, don’t you agree? :].
This morning’s workout was a 6 mile run. I went into the run intending to run at a fast pace. That definitely did not happen! After just one mile I felt the fatigue in my legs. This is natural though, considering I had a leg workout Tuesday, plus I ran Tuesday and Wednesday as well. By today my legs are surely going to be tired! My workout was still a good 6 miles, but at a slow pace. Over time if I repeat this weeks workout, I will be able to run more efficiently on Thursdays. Remember, slow progress is still progress!
I swear I did not forget about updating everyday for my cleanse! I had my 10k this weekend in Marathon Key, and I don’t normally bring my computer on a vacation in the KEYS! So here I am finally able to update. The weather was […]
I finally ran my first half marathon on Sunday! I did better than I thought, but then again I had no real expectations as to what was going to happen! I have never ran 13.1 miles before, The most I have run was only 12 a few times. My legs are sore even two days later, lol. My time was 2:04:20… next one I will do better :]. I ran straight up until mile 12.5, and I took about a 30 second break… my legs felt like 10 pound weights, so I decided walking felt worse. I am proud of doing better than I thought, and proud to be vegan while doing it! I plan to continue with more races in the future (I’m thinking about a 10k Feb 9 already!). Here are some pictures:
On September 27 I took a body age fitness test at my university’s gym. My body age was calculated to be 20 (I am 23 years old). I was happy with those results, but I wanted better! So about two months later with hard work, […]
